For the first time in the history of European football, the UEFA Super Cup will be hosted in Norway. On 18th of September 2014, it was announced that the Super Cup of 2016 will be held at Lerkendal Stadion. So Real Madrid and Sevilla will play the European Super cup match at Lerkendal Stadion.
The football ground is known for having seating capacity of more than 21, 000 spectators. The football stadium was opened on 10th August 1947. The multipurpose ground is the home stadium of Norway football club Rosenborg BK and is the second largest football stadium in Norway. On 3rd of May 1962, the first ever game was played on this stadium. It was a friendly game between Rosenborg and Dunfermline Athletic.
