One of the most popular European football competition is all set to begin from 12 August 2016 with opening game between the defending champions PSG and Bastia. The top flight football division of France have announced the broadcasting rights. Like other European championships, this tournament consists 20 top French football clubs who compete for the title. It is the 79th edition since its establishment. Paris Saint Germain are the defending champions.

French football association Ligue 1 has sold the broadcasting rights for ‎€726.5 million. Some sister channels of the above mentioned TV channels are expected to cover live action of games. In South Asian countries which includes, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, Ten Network will be providing the live coverage of Ligue 1 games.
