ISL Winner to participate in the AFC Cup Qualifying play-off, News: Good news for the Indian Football as Indian Super League winner could get a chance to compete in AFC Champions League competition [similar to UEFA Champions League]. So this mean that Indian Super League is no more a private tournament but a recognized league under the aegis of the All India Football Federation [AIFF], AFC and FIFA.

According to latest reports, the Champions of India’s biggest Football competition, Indian Super League to play in qualifying round of AFC Cup. The commercial and marketing partners met AFC General Secretary Dato Windsor and Alex Philips, the head of AFC-UEFA Affairs on Monday in Bahrain to discuss two proposals.

It was decided that the ISL Winner must get a chance to compete in the AFC Cup play-off. Previously, India requested for 3rd spot in AFC competitions which was rejected by the continental body. The idea being that the winners of I-League and Indian Super League would get AFC Cup berths. Later, the second proposition was to conduct a play off between the winner of I-League and the ISL with the victorious outfit the ACL play off while the other automatically going into the group stages of the AFC Cup.

The Winner if I-League will continue to participate in Asian Champions League play off. The proposal to earn a third spot in the AFC competitions was reportedly rejected by the continental body.
