For the second time in history of Football, the El Clasico is set to be held outside Spain. Real Madrid and Barcelona are expected to play friendly game of International Champions Cup 2017 in Miami, United States. In 1982, El Clasico was held in Venezuela, outside Spain for the first time. Hard Rock Stadium is expected to host this game. For a few months, lots of speculations about the foreign El Clasico, it is now looking possible in this year’s Summer ICC campaign.
Extra El Clasico This Year In Miami
Real Madrid are committed to be party of upcoming International Champions Cup. The other El Clasico team Barcelona also eager to play this competition. So we can expect an extra clash of Clasico this year.
Miami Dolphins owner Steve Ross, who owns the ICC through his company Relevant Sports, flew in his private plane to Spain last December along with Matt Higgins, Tom Garfinkel and Charlie Stillitano.
The Americans had a breakfast meeting with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez and executives to discuss the possibility of arranging a game against Barcelona in United States. On same day, the Americans flew to Barcelona and met Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu and other executives to discuss the matter.
Some more calls and discussions took place to finalize the El Clasico. The game will be played at Hard Rock Stadium which is known as home ground of Dolphins. United States will now have to opportunity to see live action of Football’s biggest rivalry in front of them.
